The state of AI-ready data in asset management
Rimes and Adox Research surveyed 79 senior investment, technology, and data leaders, more than half from firms managing over $150 billion in assets. AI adoption is well underway: 90% are running AI, LLMs, or agentic workflows in production or pilot, while 44% have autonomous agents in production.
Yet the data foundations supporting these systems have not kept pace. Data built for reporting and human oversight is increasingly used by AI to generate outputs and take action directly. The result is a widening gap between confidence in data and the ability to prove it can be trusted.
The research reveals:
-
67% of firms spend more time reconciling data than using it
-
82% prioritize vendor neutrality, yet integration gaps remain
-
65% faced challenges verifying data behind AI outputs, revealing a 21-point confidence gap
-
Five steps to an AI-ready data foundation, from reducing fragmentation to building a connected intelligence layer
